Whistler Farmers Market 2007

Starting June 17 2007 the Whistler Farmers’ Market hits the pedestrian streets of the Upper Village (near the Fairmont Chateau Whistler) every Sunday with artisans, crafts, organic and local produce, jams, honey, baked goods, jewelry and much more. Runs every Sunday 11a.m.- 4p.m. until October 7, 2007. This is a must for any local or visitor to Whistler Blackcomb resort.

Whistler Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival

The world’s best mountain bikers will roll into Whistler, BC for the fourth annual Kokanee Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival July 21-29. Whistler will be ground zero for nine full days of world class mountain bike events, free daily concerts and a wide range of action throughout the village for all ages including a legendary party scene. Kokanee Crankworx has established itself as the most exciting freeride mountain bike event on the planet and cash and prizing totaling more than $50,000 will ensure a spectacle that has to be seen to be believed. The world’s best riders will convene on the hallowed dirt of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park to push the limits of mind, body and gravity for crowds numbering up to 15,000 for events such as the Kokanee Slopestyle slated for Saturday, July 28. Whistler Blackcomb Bike Park Opens For 2007 Season

- 60% Expert Terrain - steep rock faces, gnarly root-strewn lines and drop offs of all descriptions.

Peak to Peak Gondola Announced

Whistler Blackcomb, a mountain resort already renowned for daring innovation, has announced its boldest move yet with the construction of the Peak to Peak Gondola, for completion December 2008. The two mountains will be united by a gondola that will set world records for length and height while providing an unmatched experience for winter and summer resort guests.
The Peak to Peak Gondola will travel 4.4 kilometres in just 11 minutes, transporting winter and summer guests from Whistler’s Roundhouse Lodge to the Rendezvous Lodge on Blackcomb Mountain, giving them unprecedented access to both mountains’ expansive and unique high alpine terrain and spectacular vistas.
Skiers and riders will have the opportunity to easily take advantage of 8,171 acres of terrain encompassed by both incredible mountains, via the world’s longest continuous lift system. Moving freely between the high alpine areas of both mountains skiers and riders will spend more of their day in the best weather and snow conditions. The adventure for summer visitors will include spectacular views of glaciers and peaks as well as access to an expanded hiking trail network on both mountains.

Whistler Blackcomb Resort Opens Glacier For Spring

The Blackcomb Glacier is open for public skiing and riding everyday from 10:30 am until 3pm. Intermediate and advanced skiers and riders hit the glacier in tank tops and plenty of sunscreen from early June until late July. Summer in Whistler is beautiful – temperatures are warm and the resort receives little precipitation. Temperatures can reach above 30 degrees Celsius making a ride into the alpine a welcome respite from the heat. Average temperatures in Whistler Valley can range through the summer months from 9 Celsius/48 Fahrenheit to 27 Celsius/81 Fahrenheit. Average temperatures in the alpine during the summer months can range from minus 1 Celsius/30 Fahrenheit to 16 Celsius/61 Fahrenheit.
